Friday Fit Club is BACK!!! + free child care (for military)

Friday Fit Club runs every Friday July 16- August 20, 2010
9:00am - 10:00am

Back by popular demand! Have fun and get a great workout in this friendly, non-intimidating class. It is designed for all fitness levels- from those that haven’t been to the gym in a long time (or ever!) to the enthusiastic gym goers. Each week they do something different- step, sculpt, Zumba, etc.. Something for everyone.

And FREE childcare is available!  Parents interested in Friday Fit Club need to call 269-6547 to register. At that time, you will be given more details about childcare. I believe the care will be in the Youth Center, but I can not say for certain at this time. Parents can be reimbursed for childcare if they find their own sitter. There is a specific form that must be completed and a few guidelines must be followed- its actually quite simple. If parents are interested in this option, they should call for more details.

NMCRS Needs Volunteers

The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) is in need of volunteers and they pay for your childcare while you volunteer!  This is a great way to keep your resume current without the commitment of a J-O-B and you get a little break from the daily motherhood duties.

Volunteer opportunities include reception work, casework (budgeting and financing with Marines & Sailors), working in the Thrift Shop, or teaching Budget for Baby classes.  Training is provided.  For more information, call NMCRS at (928) 269-2373 or stop by their office in building 645 (across from the Station Theater, same building as the Stork Club, Craft time, Breastfeeding Classes & Baby Weigh-Ins, and Youth Sports) for a volunteer application.  You don't have to be military to volunteer!!

Your child care options are to a) have NMCRS reserve drop-in care for your child at the Child Development Center (CDC) on base and they pay for it, or b) use your own provider and have NMCRS pay them or reimburse you for the hourly cost (within reason).  Currently, I've been taking my kids to the Tree House while I volunteer, but during the school year, I volunteer while my youngest is in preschool and it helps offset the cost of his tuition.

Play-based parenting class (for military)

The MCCS Counseling Support Play-based Parenting class is a 6-week play group/parenting class for parents of 1-4 year old children. You bring your child with you to class.  The first 30 minutes are spent playing followed by a parent discussion on a topic that is presented and questions and concerns are discussed and ends with a circle time for the kids (and us big kids too).  It's a lot of fun and a good way to pick up some additional tools for that parenting tool box.  If you are interested in signing up for the Play-based parenting class, please call (928) 269-2561.
