Yuma Moms speak out.  See what other moms had to say about Yuma Ballet Academy:

"Yuma Ballet Academy teaches ballet -not booty shaking- to dancers starting at age 3."

"My daughter enjoyed Yuma Ballet Academy."

"We love Yuma Ballet Academy. Miss. Emma teaches the little ones and she is amazing. They love her! The training is top notch and our older dancers have opportunities to dance around the country. Miss. Kathy brings in professional dancers and choreographers throughout the year so the older girls get a chance to work with people recognized in the arts for their work. Check out:http://www.balletyuma.org/. They're also on FB; search under Yuma Ballet Academy."

Summer break is in full effect, are you going crazy yet?

School is out for summer and it can be very exciting at first, but after a week (or a day or two), it becomes a bit exhausting.  If you're finding this is true for you, be sure to check out the parks and rec activity guide.  I post about many of the Parks & Rec activities on YumaMom.com, but there is much, much, more to choose from.

Click here to view the guide online.  To register for these classes, you may call them at (928) 373-5243, but it can be difficult to get through and expect to be on hold for a while.  You can also register in person at the City Hall.  Or you can register online through Active.com.  If you choose to register through Active.com, just type in the name of the class as show in the activity guide into the Active.com search box and it should come up.  There is an additional $2 processing fee for using their services unless you join and pay a membership fee through Active.com.  Even if you don't plan to register through Active.com, it's a great way to find out if the classes you're interested in are full or not.

Yuma Desert Runners

Yuma Desert Runners (YDR) promotes health and wellness through the sport of running and walking. Club members range in age from 10-70 and in abilities from casual walkers to seasoned marathon runners.

Weekly training events include speed workouts, hill training, and long runs.  YDR hosts a family friendly fun walk in downtown Yuma every Wednesday and a monthly social Saturday morning run.

Although you do not have to be a member to run or walk with YDR, members get weekly emails, training schedules, the quarterly newsletter, YDR t-shirt, and a discount at Sports Authority, group runs and social activities.  Individual membership is $25 a year and a family membership (more than one person living in the same residence, only receives one t-shirt) is $30 per year.  Access to their membership form is available on their website.

They have a great website that includes their weekly schedule as well as a Facebook Fan Page.

I will continue to post benefit fun run/walks on YumaMom because they're a great way to do something active and support local Yuma organizations - both things that many moms have an interest in.  But if you're more serious about running, check out the Yuma Desert Runners!
